Bio-plastics

Plastics are present and the future...

... they are more in demand as materials than ever before. Megatrends such as lightweight construction, electromobility, communication and also the future safeguarding of the elementary needs of life, such as food consumption or medical care, are inconceivable without polymer materials that are reliably available in the long term. Most plastics are currently still based on limited petrochemical raw materials. This makes the research work of the IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites of Faculty II, Faculty II – Mechanical and Bioprocess Engineering, at the Hochschule Hannover – University of Applied Sciences and Arts all the more important under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andrea Siebert-Raths. There, the focus is on bio-based plastics and composite materials.
