Laboratory for micro-electromobility

_

Teaching

The laboratory is embedded in the Institute IKME: www.ikme.wp.hs-hannover.de

Students can carry out their final projects in the laboratory. The projects improve the technical understanding. In the laboratory, students can implement the link between theoretically imparted knowledge and the practical handling of tools, components, etc.

The individual laboratory topics are:

  • Roller test bench for testing the pedelecs

On the pedelec roller test bench, different types of pedelecs can be examined with regard to range, efficiency and energy consumption.

  • Roller test bench for the testing of micro-electric vehicles.

The test bench can be used to investigate various micro-electric vehicles (e-skateboards, e-scooters, four-wheeled light vehicles, etc.).

Interesting techniques

Roller test bench for testing the pedelecs

On the pedelec roller test bench, different types of pedelecs can be examined with regard to range, efficiency and energy consumption. The pedalling behaviour of the rider is carried out with a drive motor on the pedal crankshaft. The rear wheel of the pedelec is on a roller that is connected to another motor. This means that external influencing factors such as headwind or gradients can be entered on the computer and then readjusted on the test bench. In the future, the tests on the test bench will be used to precisely reproduce certain driving situations so that the pedelecs can be optimally designed for the corresponding situations (e.g. pedelecs in rental systems).

Roller test bench for testing micro-electric vehicles

The test bench can be used to investigate various micro-electric vehicles (e-skateboards, e-scooters, four-wheeled light vehicles, etc.). Unlike the roller test bench for pedelecs, the vehicles to be tested are not driven by an additional motor, but by the respective control unit, which is connected to the test stand computer. On the roller test bench, driving profiles or driving cycles are also run in order to examine components and determine energy requirements. In addition, ambient, accumulator and engine temperatures will be measured to investigate heat characteristics. Based on this, the electronic components must be designed in a better manner.

At present, investigations are being carried out on the test bench as part of a doctoral project and other final theses.
